This Privacy Policy applies to Start Somewhere LLC (the “Company”), SquadJobs.com, and all products and services (collectively, the “Services”). The Company may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time, and if the Company makes material changes to it, the Company will provide you as a user of a candidate account (the “User”) with notice via the Company’s Services, or by other means so that the User may review the changes before the User continues to use the Company’s Services.
This Privacy Policy, together with the Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”), and any other agreements the User might make with the Company, govern the User’s use of the Services. The Privacy Policy is subject to periodic modification. If the User objects to any changes, the User may close the User’s Account. Continuing to use the Services after the Company publishes or communicates a notice about any changes to this Privacy Policy means that the User is consenting to the changes.
Account and Profile Creation
When creating an Account, the User must provide the Company with the User’s name, email address, and password. The User understands and agrees that by creating an Account, the Company and Members will be able to identify the User by the User’s Account and profile. The Company may also ask for the User’s credit card details if the User purchases certain additional services. The User optionally may also, but is not required to, provide additional information, such as the User’s job title, company and past work history, educational background, accomplishments, skills, and personal demographic/diversity data including gender identity, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity, disability, and other personal information to build the User’s profile page, as more fully described herein. This demographic information will be displayed to Participants and on a public profile.
By using the Services and voluntarily supplying personal information such as the types listed above, the User understands that and consents to the fact that this information may be used by the Company, participating employers and mentors (“Participants”), other Users, and third parties to evaluate the User as a job candidate, training candidate, and for other career-related purposes, possibly in ways that the User may find to be harmful, inaccurate, unfair, or untruthful. The above-mentioned personal information (except for password and credit card information) and these evaluations may be accessible to the Company, Participants, other Users, and third parties through the Services or other media. User understands and agrees that once this personal information is submitted and once these evaluations are created, the Company and Participants are not responsible for removing them from Services or third party media if the User decides that the User no longer wants such information and evaluations to be available to others. The Company, Participants, other Users, and third-party partners are not responsible for any harm that may come to the User as a result of any revealed personal information or evaluations.
Use of the Website and Services
The Company may collect information when the User uses SquadJobs.com and Services, including access times, sites linked from, pages visited, links and features used, search queries, content viewed or requested, browser or application type, language, the internet protocol (“IP”) address of the User’s computer or the proxy server that the User uses to access the web, the User’s computer operating system details, the User’s type of web browser, the User’s mobile device (including the User’s mobile device identifier provided by the User’s mobile device operating system), the User’s mobile operating system (if the User is accessing the Website using a mobile device), and the name of the User’s ISP or the User’s mobile carrier, and other such information.
The User’s Transactions and Communications with the Company, Participants, and Relevant Third Parties
The Company maintains records of the User’s downloads, the content the User has provided to the Company, the User’s requests, the User’s contacts, and the User’s communications and other interactions with the Company, Participants, and relevant third parties. The User may use features of the Services to share content and personal information or to interact with other Users, sites, and services. By using these features the User agrees that the Company may use and provide that information to other services and persons with whom the User chooses to interact or share this information.
Cookies
SquadJobs.com may use cookies or similar technologies to collect information about how the Company’s Services are used. The User can instruct the User’s browser, by changing its options, to stop accepting cookies or to prompt the User before accepting a cookie from the websites the User visits. If the User does not accept cookies, the User’s use and the functionality of the Services may be limited.
Company Communications
The Company may communicate with the User through means available via the Service which may include, email, text message and push notifications.
Service Improvement
The Company uses information and content that the User and Participants provide to the Company to conduct research and development for the improvement of the Services.
Other Disclosures
The Company discloses information if legally required to do so, or at the Company’s discretion pursuant to a request from a governmental entity or if the Company believes in good faith, after considering the User’s privacy interests and other factors, that such action is necessary to: (1) meet legal requirements or comply with legal process; (2) protect the Company’s rights or property or; or (3) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (4) protect the personal safety of Members or the public.
The Company may disclose and transfer information to a third party who acquires any or all of the Company’s business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation, or purchase of all or a substantial portion of the Company’s assets.
Modifying and Closing the User’s Account
The User has a right to modify the information listed on the User’s public profile. The User also has the right to close the User’s Account. If the User closes the User’s Account, the User’s public profile will generally be removed within 24 hours. However, information about the User, and Content already submitted by the User, may still be accessible to, or retained by, the Company, Participants, other Users, and relevant third parties.
California
California Civil Code Section 1798.83, known as the “Shine the Light” law, permits Users who are California residents to request and obtain from the Company a list of what personal information (if any) the Company disclosed to third parties for direct marketing purposes in the preceding calendar year and the names and addresses of those third parties. Requests may be made only once a year and are free of charge.
Security
